Menu bar

Start XSLfast with the file XSLfast.exe or from your Windows start menu. If you start XSLfast with the file XSLfast.bat you will also see a DOS box where you can follow the background activities if you know Java. If you selected to create icons on the desktop and in the quickstart bar during the installation, you have two more ways of starting the application.

The main window:

The blue header on top of the window displays the application name and either the name "New Layout ” and a number if the file has not been saved yet or the actual file name.

The menu bar below displays the commands File, Edit, View, Insert, Arrange, Page, Preview, Extras and Help. According to the selected elements on the sheet, the commands Text, Barcode, Image, Page number, Index, Citation, Table, List, Line and Call Template are added. These commands contain subcommands described in the following.

Important note: Different Renderers like FOP, XEP or XSLFormatter have differing capabilities concerning elements and their properties. XSLfast adapts the function range, which it offers to you to the capabilities of the currently selected Renderer, so you may not see all the properties described in the next chapters but only those belonging to the function range of the currently selected Renderer.

On the left side of the window footer the current exact coordinates of your mouse cursor can be seen.

The left upper corner of the sheet is the base and has the coordinates 0,0.

This information can be switched on or off via settings in the menu Preferences. This is described in the chapter Preferences: View Options.
