You place your text frame the way described above. A black wire frame with the word "empty" and its label containing the icon and the layer number appears on your sheet. The general handling of text frames is the same, no matter if they contain static text or dynamic data. By double clicking inside the frame you open the editor, as we mentioned earlier:

This editor allows you to enter and edit your static text as you like it, including font, style, size, color, background color and more. Many of these functions can also be found in the properties window for this element type. A little later in this manual we will explain in more detail how you combine static text and dynamic content of your XML file here.
Enter and edit your text and click "OK". The text is displayed in the frame on your sheet:

After you entered text into the frame, the frame dependent icon bar changes:

As explained before, it now offers you to change the style, the font, font size, text style (bold, italic, underlined), the horizontal alignment (left aligned, centered, right-aligned, justified), the text color and the background color as well as borders or paddings.
Insert symbols
If you need to insert symbols or special characters, there is a function for that in the text editor window in the menu Insert->Symbol:

Select the desired symbol from one of the available tabs All symbols, Mathematical, Currency and Greece. To transfer the symbol into the text, click "Insert" or click "Cancel" to close the window without transferring the symbol. The Unicode character code for the selected symbol is displayed in the field Character code (Unicode) and can also be copied from there.
